MARINE ENGINEERING AT MANAGEMENT LEVEL

  • Manage the operation of propulsion plant machinery, diesel engine, steam turbine, gas turbine and steam boiler
  • Plan and schedule operations (theoretical knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transmission, mechanics and hydromechanics, propulsive characteristics of diesel engines including speed, output and fuel consumption and refrigeration)
  • Practical knowledge (Start up and shut down main propulsion and auxiliary machinery, including associated systems, The efficient operation, surveillance, performance assessment and maintaining safety of propulsion plant and auxiliary machinery Functions and mechanism of automatic control for main engine. Functions and mechanism of automatic control for auxiliary machinery including but not limited to: generator distribution systems, steam boilers, oil purifier, refrigeration system, pumping and piping systems, steering gear system, cargo-handling equipment and deck machinery.
  • Manage fuel, lubrication and ballast operations
  • Detect and identify the cause of machinery malfunctions and correct faults
